About Saar Sharir

Data analyst, agronomist, and ETL builder that connect raw field data to real decisions.

Data Analyst | Data Specialist | AgriTech & Environmental

My path into data started in the biological and agricultural world. I hold a B.Sc. in Plant Sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where my academic foundation focused on plant science with specialization in cultivation, breeding, and Remote sensing.

Before moving fully into analytics and BI, I worked directly in research and applied agronomy environments. At the Weizmann Institute, I worked as a research assistant in a molecular genetics laboratory, supporting experiments involving DNA extraction, primer design, PCR, electrophoresis, and related research workflows. Later, at Danziger, I served as Head of Pre-Breeding for Ornamental Plants, working on breeding programs, growth protocols, field trials, and evaluation of plant populations.

These experiences shaped how I think about data: every number represents a real biological or environmental process. Over time I developed the technical skills needed to work with that data at scale - SQL, Python, Power BI, and GIS - to build pipelines and analytical systems that turn raw measurements into usable information.

Today I work as a BI developer and data analyst in forestry and environmental contexts, integrating field measurements, operational databases, and spatial data into unified analytical environments that support planning, monitoring, research, and decision-making. Rather than treating analysis as isolated reporting, I focus on building reliable infrastructure: structured datasets and decision-support dashboards that help organizations understand and manage complex agricultural and environmental systems.

How I work

🎯 Problem-First

I start with the decision that needs to be made, not the tool. The right model or dashboard is the one that changes behavior.

🏗 Systems Thinking

Data work is infrastructure. I build pipelines and models that hold up over time — maintainable, documented, and reliable.

🌱 Domain Grounding

Years in agronomy and molecular research mean I understand what the data actually represents — not just how to query it.

✂ Precision Over Volume

A focused dashboard that drives a real decision is more valuable than a comprehensive report that doesn't get read.
